Overview

Abe ("we", "our", or "us") is a voice-to-text dictation application developed by Quads Lab. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Hashed password (we never store plain text passwords)

Audio Data

When you use Abe, your voice recordings are sent to our servers for transcription. Audio is processed in real-time and immediately deleted after transcription. We do not store, retain, or listen to your audio recordings.

Transcription History (Optional)

By default, we store your transcription text for your convenience. You can:

• View your transcription history in the app
• Disable history storage in Settings at any time
• Delete all your history with one click

Usage Data

We track:

• Transcription duration and word counts (for billing)
• Number of voice transforms used
• Subscription status

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card numbers. Stripe handles all payment data according to their privacy policy.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide the transcription service
• To process payments and manage your subscription
• To send important account notifications (password resets, billing issues)
• To improve our service and fix bugs

We do not sell your data. We do not use your transcriptions to train AI models. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate Abe:

• OpenAI Whisper - For speech-to-text transcription
• OpenAI GPT - For voice transform features
• Stripe - For payment processing

Each service processes your data according to their respective privacy policies. Audio sent to OpenAI is not used to train their models when using their API.

Analytics and Advertising

We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products and services. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products and services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud/security purposes, and advertising.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors interact with our website. This service collects information such as how often users visit the site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to coming to our site. We use this information to improve our website and services.

Your Choices

You can opt out of analytics tracking by:

• Using browser privacy settings or extensions that block tracking
• Using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
• Adjusting your cookie preferences in your browser settings

Data Retention

• Audio: Deleted immediately after transcription
• Transcription history: Kept until you delete it or close your account
• Account data: Kept until you delete your account
• Billing records: Kept as required by law (typically 7 years)

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data
• Delete your transcription history
• Delete your account
• Export your data
• Opt out of transcription history storage

Security

We use industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Encrypted database storage
• Secure password hashing (bcrypt)
• JWT-based authentication

Children's Privacy

Abe is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
