Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By using Abe ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time—continued use means you accept the changes.

2. Description of Service

Abe is a voice-to-text dictation application that converts your speech into text. The Service includes:

  • Voice transcription powered by OpenAI Whisper
  • Voice Transform features powered by GPT
  • Desktop applications for Windows and Mac
  • Optional transcription history storage

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must:

  • Be at least 13 years old
  • Provide a valid email address
  • Create a secure password
  • Verify your email address

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Don't share your password. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Free Tier

The free tier includes:

  • 2,000 words per week
  • 10 voice transforms per week
  • All features included

Free tier limits reset weekly. We reserve the right to modify free tier limits with notice.

5. Paid Subscription

Pricing

  • $7.5/month base fee
  • Usage-based charges beyond base allocation
  • $15/month maximum cap (you'll never pay more)

Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe
  • Charges occur at the beginning of each billing cycle
  • No refunds for partial months

Cancellation

You can cancel anytime from your account settings. Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. No refunds for unused time.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for illegal purposes
  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits or billing
  • Share your account with others
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
  • Use automated systems to abuse the Service
  • Transcribe content that violates others' rights
  • Use the Service to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content

7. Intellectual Property

Our Property: The Abe application, website, brand, and all related intellectual property belong to Quads Lab. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our software without permission.

Your Content: You retain ownership of your transcriptions and any text you create using the Service. We claim no rights to your content.

8. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted service. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any downtime or service interruptions.

9. Accuracy Disclaimer

While we use state-of-the-art transcription technology (OpenAI Whisper), we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy. Transcription quality may vary based on:

  • Audio quality and background noise
  • Speech clarity and accent
  • Technical terminology or uncommon words

Always review important transcriptions before use. We are not responsible for errors in transcribed content.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months
  • We are not responsible for any loss of data, revenue, or business opportunities

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Quads Lab and its employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Account Termination

By You: You can delete your account anytime from the app settings or by contacting us.

By Us: We may suspend or terminate accounts that:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Abuse the Service or other users
  • Have unpaid charges for over 30 days

13. Referral Program

We offer referral credits for bringing new subscribers. Terms:

  • $5 credit for both referrer and referee when referee subscribes
  • Credits apply to future billing cycles
  • Self-referrals or fraudulent referrals will result in credit forfeiture
  • We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the program

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.
